CBSE School — Classes 1 to 10
Two sections a grade, half-day Saturday, one shared science lab.
880 periods placed
What made this hard, and how it was solved
Every school has one constraint that decides the whole week. Here is this school's.
The hard part
Ten classes from Class 6 up need laboratory time, and the building has one science lab — forty-four periods a week to share between them. Saturday closes at lunch, so four of every class's periods have to fit into a shorter day. And a Class 1 timetable cannot have a single free period in it: six-year-olds are not sent to study on their own.
How it was solved
Science is split the way a school actually writes it — theory in the class's own room, practicals in the lab — which brings lab demand to twenty-four periods a week against the forty-four available, and every one of them is booked against the lab's own occupancy rather than the class's. Saturday is scheduled as its own four-period day inside the same week, not a second week bolted on. Every class is filled bell to bell: forty-four periods requested, forty-four placed, none dropped.
